How it works

How Umps Health Works

1

Install Umps Health’s smart plugs onto the appliances you use regularly

Umps Health’s smart plugs fit between any appliance and the wall socket, and can measure people’s interactions with things like the TV, kettle, refrigerator and microwave. Anyone can install our system in 5 minutes or less.

2

Our software analyses patterns of behaviour to detect abnormalities

We use statistical techniques and pattern recognition to identify changes in behaviour that act as predictors of incidents like falls, the onset of an illness or progression of dementia. For example, our system will detect if someone is opening the refrigerator less frequently, getting up in the middle of the night or hasn’t boiled the kettle that morning.

3

Alerts are raised by text message to family members and caregivers

Once we detect an abnormality in behaviour, we send a text message to a nominated phone number of a family member or friend. This allows them to intervene and prevent an incident from occurring in the first place.

4

Access insights anywhere, anytime from your phone, computer or tablet

To provide family members with peace of mind, latest activity and trend data can be viewed through our dashboard on any computer, tablet or smart-phone. This allows people to always be digitally present with one another, even when they’re at work or school.
